The traditional vakka or Finnish box is made from poplar and tree roots. Almost extinct today even in Finland, we went to meet the last craftsman who still knows how to make them in the Helsinki region.
They are available in different formats and finishes but also in trays and are as beautiful as they are useful.
In his workshop, helped by his niece, Pertti shapes them patiently and with great dexterity with the woods of the surroundings.
