Romanian High-Pile Tapestry

HISTORY

An hour’s drive from Bucharest, Rozica creates high-quality tapestries using a vertical loom known as a “high-warp” loom. Wool and merino in an endless array of colors adorn the wall of the main room. The dyes are plant-based—ochre, brown, purple, ivory, and more—and will soon take center stage in the creations crafted by Rozica and her all-female team. The cushions, rugs, and wall hangings feature traditional Romanian motifs, including animals, plants, and colorful geometric patterns that vary according to customer orders and Rozica’s own creative vision.
