Introductory workshop on Origata, the art of gift wrapping - Tuesday December 10 - 6 p.m.
- 12 item left
Led by Emiko Oguri, this workshop will take place in several stages:
First of all, a presentation of Emiko's career, then explanations of the history of the art of gift wrapping, its genesis, the explanation of the four elements constituting Origata, the symbolism of knots and folds, the development of the art of wrapping through Japanese culture and an approach to the art of giving - a way of crystallizing delicate attentions.
These explanations will be followed by a learning session on packaging with materials from natural and artisanal sources (kozu paper, twisted paper cords and fabrics).
Then learning the art of origata by making an envelope to insert a tip called "kokorozuké" (which literally means - to add your heart to it).
Finally gift wrapping an object with a modern wrapping style inspired by Origata. With an object from the Trading House or an object brought back by you.
Time for discussion then tasting of seasonal Japanese tea to close the session.
This workshop will last between 2 and 2.5 hours and is limited to 12 people.
