Crafted in the heart of the Alpilles by the last traditional candle-making workshop in France, these taper candles carry forward a savoir-faire born in the fifteenth century. Using the technique known as à la plongée, the wicks—arranged in a U-shape over wooden frames—are dipped layer upon layer into warm wax. From this patient gesture emerges their elegant, conical silhouette, both singular and refined.
Recognized as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, the manufactory continues this delicate work today under the guidance of a master candle-maker. Mineral and vegetable waxes, natural pigments, braided cotton wicks, time, and precision come together to create pieces of remarkable combustion, prized alike by churches and film set decorators.
The candles are sold in sets of six in the same color.
When lighting them together, allow at least five centimeters between each candle to preserve the quality of their burn.
