Antonis Cardew

History

He has very blue eyes, clear ideas, and a deep knowledge of his chosen material: wood.

Antonis started working with solid wood in London, before settling between the Normandy countryside and the outskirts of Paris.

A little away from the large carpentry workshop that he co-manages, in a small room strewn with fragrant shavings, facing an open window, Antonis has set up his lathe to transform, when he wants, to scraps of wood into everyday objects.

Objects of absolute simplicity and delicacy, sometimes nourished with walnut oil, resolutely long lasting.

The essences are always chosen with care from small local sawmills valuing woods that have become rare such as apple, pear, cherry or walnut.

A call back to nature, to the essential.
