In Nontron, in the Périgord Vert region, the knife is practically a resident of the village. Blades have been crafted here for centuries, to the point that the Nontron knife is often cited as the oldest in France. Even today, the Coutellerie Nontronnaise, designated a “Living Heritage Company,” carries on this tradition, with each knife crafted from start to finish by a single artisan.
This set includes six table knives with pyrographed boxwood handles, decorated with the dots and small “spots” that are the brand’s signature. The wood, soft and warm, develops a beautiful patina over time, while the blade—hot-forged and assembled in Nontron—cuts with precision without sacrificing elegance. Whether on an everyday dining table or at a formal dinner, they add a touch that is both simple and remarkably refined.
Pair them with the matching boxwood forks to create a table setting that tells a story: the story of a time-honored tradition, a village of cutlers, and the art of hospitality, where the artisan’s touch is evident in every detail.
