In Madrid, Pablo Yubero works with wood as if it were a living material. Coming from a family with ties to cabinetmaking, he grew up surrounded by wood shavings, tools, and the scent of freshly cut wood. Influenced by Japanese forms and simple balances, he turns, sands, and oils each piece by hand to reveal the material’s natural variations rather than mask them. Here, no sculpture strives for perfection: each piece retains its irregularities, its grain, and its own rhythm.
The vase is made of iroko and is a one-of-a-kind piece.
The finishes are achieved using oil alone, without any chemical processes.
