Cyclades Tableware, 26-cm Plate

These ceramic plates, hand-thrown and hand-painted in the Cyclades, feature the motifs dear to Nikos: flowers, the tree of life, ictus, octopuses, and other marine symbols. Presented in an infinite palette of blues—sometimes deep, sometimes luminous—these designs brighten the table and immediately invite you on a journey. Each motif is applied freehand, inspired by the moment, and no two plates are exactly alike—as if the sea, the wind, and the light had also left their mark on the ceramics. At the table, they evoke a sense of summer and that simple, precious feeling of sharing a piece of the Mediterranean, all year round.

Here, the tradition dates back to antiquity. Pottery made on these Cycladic islands has long been transported by boat, delivered from village to village all the way to Athens. In the workshop located in the northern part of the island—which has no specific address; you find it by following directions from neighbors—pottery has been a family business for over a century. In the summer, production ramps up to meet the demand from vacationers and regular customers; the rest of the year, Nikos takes the time to create pieces for Athens’s upscale neighborhoods and for La Maison de Commerce Paris.

The style of this tableware is based on soft contrasts: a subtle balance between perfection and imperfection, simple designs, clean lines, and bright colors. Timeless—if not eternal—these plates invite you to mix and match patterns, add color to the table, and create a lively, cheerful table setting. They pair naturally with the collection’s carafes, bowls, and cups to create a tableware set bursting with color.
