On these ceramic glasses, wheel-thrown and hand-painted in Sifnos in the Cyclades, unfold ichthys, octopus, fish, and flowers in luminous shades of blue, green, and red. Each motif is applied freehand. No two pieces are ever quite the same, as if the sea, the wind, and the sun had also signed the decoration. Whether filled with water, juice, or a chilled glass of wine, the gaze is instantly drawn into the Mediterranean.
In Nikos’s workshop, in the north of the island, pottery has been a family affair for over a century. Gestures are passed down and refined, yet remain faithful to the ancient tradition of worked clay, wheel-throwing, and the brush that simply tells the story of the sea and the light.
These glasses carry the house style: a confident balance between regularity and subtle irregularities, drawings that are both naïve and precise, and clear, assertive forms and colors. They find their place just as naturally on a holiday table as in everyday meals, with the quiet certainty of objects made to last.
