Halfway between the plant and mineral worlds, this small sculpted vase by Diana Barbosa evokes flowers whose imprints seem to have been preserved in the earth. Shaped using the traditional colombin technique, it is then delicately sculpted and embodies a sensitive nature, where every detail bears the mark of the artisan’s touch.
A ceramic artist since 2015, Diana Barbosa works with stoneware in both Portugal and France. Each vase is entirely hand-formed, then engraved and chiseled through a slow process that brings out the full richness of the material. The layering of glazes, the use of oxides, and the interplay between the unglazed and glazed clay highlight the forms and lend each piece a unique depth.
Designed as much as a sculptural object as a vase, it can hold anything from a few dry branches to fresh flowers thanks to its glazed interior. This small sculpted vase is a one-of-a-kind piece.
Handcrafted, each piece is unique, even when produced in small batches. Its subtle variations, lines, and slight irregularities reflect the artisan’s touch and the French and European craftsmanship that La Maison de Commerce celebrates.
The item you receive may therefore differ slightly from the one pictured: that is what makes it so beautiful and unique.
