Brighten up your beautiful summer evenings and keep mosquitoes at bay with this handcrafted citronella candle poured into an authentic terracotta pot from the Landes region. Made in the Alpilles by France’s last remaining candle-making workshop, this candle produces an unparalleled flame: tall, intense, and steady, with no black smoke or dripping, and a burn time of approximately 40 hours.
Its ingredients: mineral and vegetable waxes, mineral pigments, organic lemongrass oil, cotton (for the wick), time, and precision.
Note: Before each use, we recommend trimming your candle’s wick to about 5 mm, which will keep the flame at the correct height and minimize the risk of smoke. If necessary, re-center the wick from time to time. Let your candle burn all the way to the edge of the jar; otherwise, the next time you light it, the “memory” of the wax will cause the same hole to form, and your candle will not burn optimally. Burn your candle on a flat surface, away from drafts that could disrupt the burn. Never leave a candle unattended.
- Bleached cotton wick sourced from the French company EPV (FILT). Raw cotton contains numerous natural residues such as oils and waxes, as well as dust and dirt of all kinds. Sometimes it may even contain traces of pesticides or textile treatments. All these “foreign” substances present in the cotton will cause irregularities in wax absorption during combustion, which can lead to an unstable flame, charred residue, and excessive smoke. The purpose of bleaching is to remove these impurities to ensure stable combustion. It also imparts astringent properties to the cotton, which further improves combustion.
- Natural dye.
- Paraffin is a mineral wax that is less oily and more compact than vegetable wax. It is the best ingredient for making a high-quality candle that burns slowly. Vegetable wax is more suitable for filling because it does not make the product hard.
