Their steady, intense flame illuminates the tables just as it does the altars. Tall, steady, with no smoke or dripping, it brings to mind those movie scenes where the light flickers without ever fading.
Made in the heart of the Alpilles by France’s last traditional candle-making workshop, these candles carry on a craft that dates back to the 15th century. Using a technique known as “dipping,” the wicks—arranged in a U-shape on wooden frames—are immersed layer by layer in hot wax. This painstaking process gives them their elegant and distinctive conical shape.
Recognized as a “Living Heritage Company,” the workshop continues this delicate craft today under the guidance of a master candlemaker. Mineral and vegetable waxes, natural pigments, braided cotton wicks, time, and precision come together to create these candles, which burn remarkably well and are prized by churches and film set designers alike.
The candles are sold in sets of six of the same color.
When lighting them together, be sure to space them at least five centimeters apart to ensure they burn properly.
Composition
. Bleached cotton wick sourced from a French company certified by EPV (FILT), purified to ensure a stable flame and controlled combustion.
. Natural dye.
. Paraffin wax selected for its density and hold, providing a slow, even burn and a perfectly defined shape.
