On this Comporta napkin, white linen serves as the backdrop for a small, hand-embroidered scene. Placed near a corner, the “The Harvester” motif catches the eye with its delicate design and touches of color, while allowing the fabric to retain its understated elegance. The 50-cm square size is perfect for both carefully set tables and simpler meals. Made in Portugal, this napkin combines an everyday fabric with a figurative detail that’s a pleasure to rediscover with each meal.
House of Capricorn
Founded by Paula Amorim, House of Capricorn explores the richness of Portuguese craftsmanship—from embroidery in the Minho region to basket weaving in the Azores—to create a collection of items handcrafted in Portugal.
Viana embroidery, rooted in the traditions of the Minho region, also inspires the designs on the plates. Plant fibers, crafted by basket weavers, are transformed into items for the table and the home. From one material to the next, the techniques echo one another, and the patterns recur.
It was this interplay that drew us in: a brand that combines the simplicity of materials with bold colors, and brings Portuguese traditions to life through everyday objects. Pieces chosen as much for their character as for the craftsmanship they showcase.
Handcrafted, each piece is unique, even when produced in small batches. Its subtle variations, lines, and slight irregularities reflect the artisan’s touch and the French and European craftsmanship that La Maison de Commerce celebrates.
The item you receive may therefore differ slightly from the one pictured: that is what makes it so beautiful and unique.
All of our items come with a certificate of authenticity issued by La Maison de Commerce.
