Blue
Designed to complement the bread basket, the Teresa square combines light-colored linen with blue embroidery. A border highlights the fabric’s contours, while a small botanical motif adds a touch of life to one of the corners. The rounded cutouts along its edges give it a distinctive silhouette, even when simply placed on the table. Hand-embroidered in Portugal, it adds a delicate textile touch to the bread setting. It can be paired with the Vitória bread basket to create a table setting where the woven basketwork complements the delicacy of the thread.
Green
The Teresa bread square is presented here in green against a light linen background. The embroidery forms a delicate border and features a botanical motif in one corner—a subtle detail that you discover as you set the table. Its scalloped edges soften the silhouette and set this cloth apart from a classic table square. Made in Portugal and hand-embroidered, it pairs naturally with a plant-fiber bread basket. The green complements the natural materials and colorful ceramics on the table.
Red
On the light-colored linen of the Teresa bread plate, a red thread forms a border and an embroidered floral motif in one of the corners. This bold color adds a bright accent to the table without distracting from the materials surrounding it. The square shape, featuring rounded cutouts along the sides, reflects the signature style of this Portuguese table linens collection. Hand-embroidered, this piece is perfect for serving bread at the table and pairs especially well with a natural wicker basket.
House of Capricorn
Founded by Paula Amorim, House of Capricorn explores the richness of Portuguese craftsmanship—from embroidery in the Minho region to basket weaving in the Azores—to create a collection of items handcrafted in Portugal.
Viana embroidery, rooted in the traditions of the Minho region, also inspires the designs on the plates. Plant fibers, crafted by basket weavers, are transformed into items for the table and the home. From one material to the next, the techniques echo one another, and the patterns recur.
It was this interplay that drew us in: a brand that combines the simplicity of materials with bold colors, and brings Portuguese traditions to life through everyday objects. Pieces chosen as much for their character as for the craftsmanship they showcase.
Handcrafted, each piece is unique, even when produced in small batches. Its subtle variations, lines, and slight irregularities reflect the artisan’s touch and the French and European craftsmanship that La Maison de Commerce celebrates.
The item you receive may therefore differ slightly from the one pictured: that is what makes it so beautiful and unique.
All of our items come with a certificate of authenticity issued by La Maison de Commerce.
