Sophie Parachey

Inspired by various stays in Central America, Sophie Parachey’s work explores the sense of being in a foreign land, the tension between the ancestral and the modern, and our relationship with the living world. Her pieces are shaped from stoneware or gathered clay, expressing themselves through their curves, textures, and resonances. Whether rough or smooth, together they depict a paradoxical world. Raw, primal forms, barely emerged from the molten mass, stand alongside softer, more subtle shapes. From this surprising coexistence, a new balance seems to emerge. Each piece is created in small batches in Marseille, in the south of France.
