Illuminate your beautiful summer evenings, and keep yourself safe from mosquitoes, with this handcrafted citronella candle cast in an authentic terracotta Landes jar. Manufactured in the Alpilles region by France's last remaining ciergerie, this candle produces an unparalleled flame: high, intense, even, with no black smoke or dripping, for a burn time of around 40 hours. Its ingredients: mineral and vegetable waxes, mineral pigments, organic citronella oil, cotton (for the wick), time and precision. NB: Before each use, we advise you to cut the wick of your candle to about 5mm, which will keep the flame at the right height and minimize the risk of smoke. If necessary, re-centre the wick from time to time. Let your candle burn to the edge of the pot, otherwise the next time you burn it, the hole created will be reproduced by the wax "memory" and your candle will not be used optimally. Burn your candle on a flat surface, away from draughts that could disrupt combustion. Never leave a candle unattended.
Bleached cotton wick sourced from French company EPV (FILT). Raw cotton contains many natural residues such as oils and waxes, as well as dust and dirt of all kinds. Sometimes it may even contain traces of pesticides or textile treatments. All these “foreign” substances present on the cotton cause irregularities in the absorption of wax during combustion, which can lead to an unstable flame, carbonized residues, and excess smoke. The role of bleaching is to remove these impurities to ensure stable combustion. It also gives the cotton astringent properties, which further improves combustion.
Natural dye.
Paraffin is a mineral wax that is less greasy and more compact than vegetable wax. It is the best ingredient for making a high-quality candle that burns slowly. Vegetable wax is more suitable for filling because it does not make the product hard.
NB: Before each use, we advise you to cut the wick of your candle to about 5mm, which will keep the flame at the right height and minimise the risk of smoke. If necessary, re-centre the candle wick from time to time. Leave your candle to burn right up to the edge of the pot, otherwise the next time you burn it the hole created will be reproduced by the wax's "memory" and your candle will not be used optimally. Burn your candle on a flat surface away from draughts that could disrupt its combustion. Never leave a candle unattended.
