100% Jugs: Celebrating the Art of Everyday Life at La Maison de Commerce

Soledad, our favorite illustrator and multifaceted artist is back to create the artwork for this edition with her instantly recognizable, playful, and elegant style, featured on a series of exclusive pitchers and an original poster.

L'Atelier Grand Soleil, co-founded by Gaëlle Levray and Arnold d'Alger, is exhibiting La Maison de Commerce pieces at L'Atelier de La Maison de Commerce —works that blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, adorned with gold and timelessly beautiful patterns. The jugs from Atelier Grand Soleil are joyful, narrative, and bold pieces, featuring generous shapes, vibrant colors, and unexpected details.

Julie Safirstein, a visual artist, explores color through a variety of techniques. Especially for this exhibition, Julie plays with lines, flat areas of color, and curves. Her jugs are conceived as colorful, poetic forms that straddle the line between sculpture and illustration.

Lucie Sotty handcrafts unique ceramics, combining hand-building, the potter’s wheel, and carefully selected glazes to create vibrant and playful pieces, such as her matching “you and me” jugs.

What a Dumbass!?

Jug, carafe, pitcher, pot, jar, canari, pourer, or crock... There are as many names as there are shapes for these containers—ancient objects that are as useful as they are beautiful. 

Whether glazed, made of earthenware, stoneware, or glass—or even reimagined in various materials—the exhibition invites visitors, with a smile, to take a stroll through a world of humor and poetry. 

Whether antique or contemporary, flamboyant or chipped, adorned with flowers, birds, abstract patterns, or even jewels! They strut proudly, each with its own story and purpose. Some shy away in a corner, while others strut like divas on the table. There are even some that glow with flamboyant glazes to be sure to catch everyone’s eye.

We collect them, decorate them with flowers, and sometimes even pass them down from one generation to the next… they all help make our tables and homes unique.
