Candles and tapers

History

The technique goes back to the 15th century.

The manufacture was born in the middle of the 19th century in the heart of the Alpilles. The White Fathers make candles there for the Church.

In 2009, a fire destroys the historic workshops run by the Chabrier family for over a century.

The last traditional candle maker in France almost disappeared but it was then bought by the owners of a famous Provençal house.

Relocated, the company, recognized as a “living heritage company”, is now guided by Cathy, a master candle maker carrying decades of experience. With banter, and passion.

Layer after layer, candles are always made “with a ladle” or “à la plongée”.

Ingredients: mineral and plant based waxes, mineral pigments, braided cotton (for the wick), time and precision.

The work is delicate, long, patient. It requires many years of training.

In return? Exceptional burning time, custom made diameters, and a controlled flame, with the perfect glow.

The movie industry is never wrong: producers and decorators know the address, as well as cathedrals and churches.

A question of time…
