KÁLNOKY – TRANSYLVANICUM
An arrow shot in the mouth of a bear. Since the 14th Century, the Kálnoky coat of arms commemorates this glorious act which saved the life of the Hungarian King.
From Magyarien aristocracy, Tibor Kálnoky de Köröspatak grew up in Europe. He is a trained veterinarian. When communism fell, he decided to take back the land his family were forced to abandon 45 years before. He and his wife Anna, a Hungarian from Romania, are totally committed and share a common passion; to undertake the task of restoring and reviving: a guesthouse, a fund, a château-museum, an equestrian centre for Roma children and now wool production. Transylvanicum is the brand the couple have created to produce wool pieces of great beauty and purity. The pigment is natural and each stage is carried out by hand following a charter of excellence. The looms are installed in farm buildings. The know-how is shared by women of the region. Anna Kálnokys work is faithful to that tradition: every colour has a meaning and every form has a reason for being.
Köröspatak, Miklósvár, places that reflect the image of their name: noble, ancestral and mysteriously beautiful. We could stay here forever.
The Kálnokys motto suits them perfectly “the work that I take on must survive me”.
