L’ATELIER DU CUIVRE
As beautiful as gold and gifted like silver, copper has been an ally of man for millennia.
The little Norman town of Villedieu-les-Poêles has been known for its dinandiers for centuries.
The masters of L’Atelier du Cuivre have been pushing, polishing and hammering (in no particular order) for decades.
The dust, the smells, the colours, the display windows, the shop, the VHS on replay, the flame, the routine speech of the guide and in the middle of it all, a colour, a burst.
In the form of plaques, scraps, pots and pans, timpani and even a bath, copper imposes a presence that plays with time.
We learn that it conducts, that it cleanses and that it heals.
And how does one make jam without a copper basin?
